History
In 1907 The Dovercourt Land Company acquired the north parcel of Lawrence Park from John Lawrence, after whom this neighborhood is named.  Wilfred Servington Dinnick was the president of the Dovercourt Land Company and under his direction Lawrence Park was developed as a suburb for the "well to do."

Price Range of Homes:
$1,000,000 to $9,000,000

Lawrence Park is one of Toronto's most exclusive residential neighborhoods.  It is located in a very peacful and tranquil setting that includes gently rolling hills, winding road and a lush topography.  It's shops, schools and recreational facilities are located on its periphery, which keeps traffic on the residential streets to a minimum.

Homes
Lawrence Park's houses include a variety of architectural styles including English Cottage, Tudor Revival and Georgian and Colonial designs.  The houses were built between 1910 and the late 1940's.  Certain pockets of Lawrence Park have been redeveloped with new homes - they could be described as modern magnificent Homes; and others describe them as Monster Homes that are marring the brick-and-stone-cladding look of the neighborhood.  Yet the big picture of Lawrence Park is a good place to find a house that blends the old with the new.  Renovations in this neighborhood have been sensitive to preserving the old-world charm of these houses, including leaded glass windows, wood trims around door and window frames, decorative fireplace mantels and rich hardwood floors.

Shopping
The high-profile shops and restaurants in the Yonge/Lawrence area are well patronized by Lawrence Park residents.  The area is home to many upscale schools and clubs including Havergal College, Toronto French School, The Rosedale Golf Club, and the Granite Club.  This shopping district includes Royal Lighting and Pusateri's Find Foods, as well as children's stores, sporting goods stores, gift shops, bakeries and gourmet coffee shops.

Recreation
Recreation facilities centre around Lawrence Park, east of Yonge Street and south of Lawrence.  This park has three clay-surface tennis courts, a lawn bowling club, and the Alexander Muir Memorial Gardens, an award winning multi-level stroling garden.  The park also provides access to the Lawrence Park Ravine footpath, which is popular with fitness and nature enthusiasts.  The George Locke Public Library at the northwest corner of Lawrence Park offers a variety of programs for adults, childrenand preschoolers.

Transportation
Most Lawrence Park residents are within walking distance of bus routes that run along Yonge Street, Mount Pleasant Road, Bayview Avenue and Lawrence Avenue.  The Lawrence subway station, located at the intersection of Yonge and Lawrence, is part of the Yonge-Uuniversity-Spadian subway line.  The Yonge Street on-ramp to Highway 401 is a 5 to 10-minute drive from Lawrence Park.
